If you’re in the market for a new heating or air conditioning
system, consider a ductless split system. Ductless split air
conditioners, also called mini-splits, can be a great alternative to
conventional central air systems, offering many of the same features
but with added benefits.
If you have any questions about this home heating and cooling
option, call us today.
Ductless mini-split air conditioners are a type of heating and
cooling system that doesn't need any ducts to condition the air. For
this reason, ductless units can be the best solution for home
add-ons, renovations and other areas that don't have existing
ductwork.
Like central systems, mini splits have two main components: an
outdoor compressor/condenser, and an indoor air-handling unit. A
conduit, which houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction
tubing, and a condensate drain, links the outdoor and indoor units.
We are proud to offer the
Mitsubishi Electric wall-mounted ductless split systems.
These ENERGY STAR certified systems are among the highest quality,
most energy-efficient ductless split systems available, with
efficiency ratings of up to 33 SEER. At Scott Comfort Systems we can
help you get the right system that fits your needs.
The main advantages of mini-splits are their small size and
flexibility for zoning or heating and cooling individual rooms. Many
models can have as many as four indoor air handling units (for four
zones or rooms) connected to one outdoor unit. The number depends on
how much heating or cooling is required for the building or each
zone. Each of the zones will have its own thermostat, so you only
need to condition that space when it is occupied, saving energy and
money.
Since mini splits have no ducts, they avoid the energy losses
associated with ductwork of central forced air systems. Duct losses
can account for more than 30% of energy consumption for space
conditioning, especially if the ducts are in an unconditioned space
such as an attic.
With wireless controls connected to your Mitsubishi Electric heating
and cooling system, control is at the tip of your tongue or finger.
You can control temperature from easy-to-use apps on just about any
smartphone or tablet, even when you're away from home. Voice control
is also available.
Split-systems can also help to keep your home safer because there is
only a small hole in the wall. Through-the-wall and window mounted
room air-conditioners can provide an easy entrance for intruders.
